Community Hospital-Fairfax and Community Healthcare Foundation received a grant from Enel to bring a mental health speaker to speak to Atchison County high school students and community members. The student assembly took place Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the TAC. Jeff Yalden spoke about mental health and suicide prevention. COVID-19, along with current social and emotional pressures, is having a serious impact on our high school students. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for Missourians aged 10-24 and one in six Missouri high school students have seriously considered suicide. Yalden also delivered a parent and community session that evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Tarkio High School Auditorium.
