Mary Anna Sapp was born December 26, 1949, in Malvern, Iowa, one of 13 children born to Corwin and Lelia (Fletcher) Hardy. Mary attended Malvern and Thurman, Iowa, schools.

In November of 1968, Mary was united in marriage to Robert Phillips and they became parents to four children, James, Leslie, Tracie, and Kimberly. They later divorced. On October 28, 1977, Mary was united in marriage to Glen Sapp and became stepmother to Glen’s five children. Glen passed away January 3, 2015.

Mary was a homemaker and also owned and operated a candy store in Westboro, Missouri, for one year. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband until his health declined. She then cared for Glen until his passing. Mary also enjoyed riding horses and taking buggy and sleigh rides with her family. Mary passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at her home in Westboro, at the age of 72.

Besides her parents and husband, Glen Sapp, Mary was preceded in death by siblings, Leonard, Stella, Lois, and Sherrel. Survivors include children, James and friend Mary, Leslie and husband Bruce, Tracie and friend Glenn, and Kimberly; grandchildren, Daniel, Robert, Waymon, and Thea; special grandchildren, Katelynn, Michelle, and Emma; siblings, Lowell, Lavern, Merle, Donnie, Ellen, Carolyn, Bev, and Bonnie; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robert, Jackie, Bob, and Fred.

Graveside service and inurnment will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Riverton Cemetery, Riverton, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Westboro Fire Station, Westboro. There is no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Mary Sapp Memorial Fund. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
