
Ann Schoonover Burke, the daughter of Charles and Leona (Freeman) Smith, was born on August 25, 1941, in Tarkio, Missouri. Ann attended Westboro High School, Westboro, Missouri, graduating in 1959.
On October 8, 1960, Ann was united in marriage to Loren A. Schoonover in Tarkio. They made their home in Rock Port, Missouri, and became parents of five children: Denise, Sue, Donna, Scotty, and Terry. Loren passed away June 15, 1996. On April 14, 2007, Ann was united in marriage to Gilbert Burke in Rock Port. Gilbert passed away on March 12, 2016.
Ann worked as a bookkeeper for Schoonover Electric, Rock Port. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, and Rock Port Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing golf on the ladies’ league and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ann passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 80.
Besides her parents and husbands, Loren Schoonover and Gilbert Burke, Ann was preceded in death by one brother. Survivors include children, Denise (Michael) Schoonover-Gatewood, Olathe, Kansas, Sue Ann (Scott) Daugherty, Rock Port, Donna (David) Wedel, Rock Port, Scotty (Jennifer) Schoonover, Camden Point, Missouri, and Terry Wooten, Rock Port; grandchildren, Ryan Parkhurst-Norcross, Breanna Vansickle, Michael Harris, Randy Wedel, Melanie Miller, Billy Daugherty, Dakota and Alyson Wooten, and Samantha Busch; great-grandchildren, Trey and Easton Harris, Piper Vansickle, Paisleigh and Liam Daugherty, and Gabe and Kate Wedel; brother, Bob Smith, Tarkio; sister, Betty Fischer, Gladstone, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jack and Rita.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, conducted by Pastor Devon Sons and Rev. Glenn Scott. Interment was at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to Rock Port Senior Center, Tarkio Nutrition Center, or Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax. Services were under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
