The Tarkio High School band and choir students were honored with awards for their dedication to music following the spring music concert Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
The Tarkio Sixth Grade Band played “Quicksilver March,” “Hey Jude,” “Smoke on the Water,” and “High Hopes” at the spring music concert.
The Tarkio Junior High band played “Broadway” and “On the Edge of Tomorrow” at the spring music concert.
Tarkio High School band members performed “Viva La Vida,” “Darklands March,” “The Great Locomotive Chase,” and “Cheap Thrills” at the spring music concert Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
The Tarkio 6th-12th grade spring music concert was held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Tarkio High School, under the direction of Melody Barnett and Nathaniel Wehmeyer.
The 6th grade band performed four songs: “Quicksilver March” by Gary Fagan, “Hey Jude” by The Beatles, “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple, and “High Hopes” by Panic! At the Disco. Band members include: flutes – Kelsey Avrett, Star Hankins, Zoe Rosenbohm, Axyl Slemp, Macy Stepp, and Azlynn Wiley; clarinets – Rhoni Caudill, Wyatt Landess, Savanna Lindsay, Karsyn White, and Taya Windham; alto saxophones – Conner Thomas and Annalee Livengood; trumpets – Trevin Lester, Easton Madron, Shaylon McNaughton, Kaiden Nelson, Jax Peregrine, Ben Rolf, and Braylyn Wood; trombones – Ceanna Caldwell, Luke Gebhards, Sophia Riley, Emily Smith, and Nikoli Vassar; and percussionists – Treyton Brown, Maddox Pearson, and Jayden Scott.
The junior high choir sang “The Wellerman,” a traditional New Zealand Folk Song. The junior high band played “Broadway” by Johnnie Vinson and “On the Edge of Tomorrow” by Michael Sweeney. Band and choir members include: flutes – Danika Agnew, Beth Clark, Bresayda Jimenez, Dezzy Kimpston, Bailey Wennihan, and Delainee White; clarinet – Kambry Bullock; alto saxophones – Emily Gebhards, Jina Harbit, Velicity Hegstrom, Rainy Nordhausen, and Chase Pearson; tenor saxophone – Danni Irvine; trumpets – Quin Staten, Dalton Hogue, and Finn Hurst; trombones – Bella Bywater and Aiden Jimenez; baritones – Olivia Schaefer, Josyah Vassar, and Teahen Hannah; and percussionists – Grace Caudill, Bo Peregrine, Isaac Vette, and Brody Wennihan.
The high school choir sang “Dark Brown is the River” with music by Audrey Snyder and words by Robert Louis Stevenson and “Hamilton Highlights” arranged by Lisa DeSpain and words and music by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Choir members include Faith Anderson, Alaina Armstrong, Alex Barnett, Sydnee Bruns, Haylee Clark, Claire Martin, Addison Noland, Drew Sanders, Destiny Smith, Morgan Shaw, and Alyson Wooten.
The high school band played “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, “Darklands March” by Randall Standridge, “The Great Locomotive Chase” by Robert W. Smith, and “Cheap Thrills” by Sia. Band members include flutes – Dalaynie Drummond, Hailey Morton, and Alyson Wooten; clarinets – Savannah Caldwell, Haylee Clark, Abbie Harms, Addison Noland, and Brooklyn Wennihan; alto saxophones – Cole Anderson, Emmy Laur, and Teagen Wennihan; baritone saxophones – Kamryn Brown and Morgan Shaw; trumpets – Faith Anderson, Alex Barnett, Sydnee Bruns, Jozee Eaton, Aaron Schlueter, and Lizzie Schlueter; trombones – Caiden Caudill and Gabe Harms; tuba – Owen DeRosier; and percussionists – Alexis Bywater, River Dow, Daniel Lesher, Connor Morton, and Ian Stepp.
Following the performances, the students were presented awards for their years of participation in band, choir, and color guard, as well as their participation in music contests. Senior Aaron Schlueter was presented the John Philip Sousa Band Award.
