Tarkio High School students involved in FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, and National Honor Society chapters were recognized last week at an awards banquet held Monday, May 2, 2022, in the THS Auditorium.

FFA members honored included Aaron Schlueter, Abbie Harms, Alex Erickson, Alexis Brown, Alexis Gibler, Alyson Wooten, Braiden Wennihan, Brooke Lee, Brooklyn Wennihan, Cole Anderson, Colten Hall, Connor Brown, Connor Morton, Daniel Lesher, Draven Egbert, Emilee Caudill, Emmy Laur, Gabe Harms, Haley Garrison, Jesse Navin, Jillian Hannah, Josie King, Jozee Eaton, Kamryn Brown, Karson Bullock, Kaylin Merriweather, Linkin Murry, Lizzie Schlueter, Luke Morey, Owen DeRosier, River Dow, Slade Rosenbohm, Stormy Nordhausen, Teagen Wennihan, Tessa Rolf, Titus Eaton, and Tyler Donaldson. The FFA’s Contest Teams did a fantastic job this season and all the participants were recognized. Aaron Schlueter and Brooke Lee were recognized for having earned their State FFA Degrees. Bethany Sutcliffe, the THS Ag Department’s student teacher, was presented the Honorary FFA Chapter Degree. Aaron Schlueter was presented a Proficiency Award and was named the Star Chapter Farmer. The 2021-2022 FBLA Chapter Officers Recognition award was given to: President – Sophia Martin; Vice President – Tessa Rolf; Treasurer – Stormy Nordhausen; Secretary – Katie Hall; Reporter – Emilee Caudill and Student Council Representatives – Alexis Gibler and Josie King. Sophia Martin was also recognized for being the 2021-22 District 1 Secretary. Several FBLA members competed in the District 1 Leadership Conference. Members competed in an online objective test over a variety of topics ranging from Introduction to Business to Securities & Investments to Graphic Design. Select members also competed in a speaking or presentation event over a variety of business related topics. The following members were recognized for their successes at the District Leadership Conference: Aaron Schlueter, Alex Barnett, Bo Graves, Claire Martin, Cole Anderson, Daniel Lesher, Jersi Poppa, Josie King, Katie Hall, Kaylin Merriweather, Lizzie Schlueter, Tessa Rolf, Tommi Martin, and Rylie Simmons. Of those, the following members were in the Top 5 and advanced to state: Lizzie Schlueter – 3rd Place Agribusiness; Alex Barnett – 6th Place Human Resource Management and 3rd Place Intro to Business Procedures; Aaron Schlueter – 1st Place Insurance and Risk Management and 1st Place Securities; Katie Hall – 5th Place Organizational Leadership; Bo Graves – 5th Place Political Science; Daniel Lesher – 4th Place Supply Chain Management. Members who participated and placed in the speaking, performance, or production events, where the Top 5 were recognized and the Top 1 advanced to state include: Tommi Martin, Jersi Poppa, and Keena Merriweather – 1st Place Digital Video Production; Claire Martin and Alex Barnett – 1st Place Intro to Event Planning; Rylie Simmons, Tessa Rolf, and Josie King – 5th Place Public Service Announcement; Rylie Simmons and Josie King – 5th Place Entrepreneurship; and Cole Anderson – 5th Place Computer Applications. Twelve members competed at the State Leadership Conference with over 4,000 other Missouri students. Of these members who qualified, some received recognition for placing in the top 10 of the state and are advancing to Nationals. Those FBLA members who earned the Business Achievement Award include: Contributor Level – Katie Hall, Jaden Goodin, Bo Graves, Kaylin Merriweather, Daniel Lesher, and Rylie Simmons; Leader Level – Katie Hall; Advocate Level – Katie Hall, Connor Brown, Rylie Simmons, Kaylin Merriweather, and Bo Graves. The Outstanding FBLA Member of the Year award was presented to Katie Hall. The Outstanding Member of the Year award is presented in recognition of outstanding achievement and continuous, valuable contributions to the success of the Tarkio FBLA Chapter for the 2020-2021 year. FBLA honor cords were presented to Katie Hall, Sophia Martin, and Tessa Rolf. The 2022-23 FBLA Officers were installed. They are: President – Claire Martin; Vice President – Alex Barnett; Secretary – Tessa Rolf; Treasurer – Jersi Poppa; Reporter – Alexis Gibler; and Student Council Representatives – Emilee Caudill and Josie King.

The National Honor Society 2021-22 members, as well as the new inductees were recognized. The new inductees are Claire Martin, Ian Stepp, Brooklyn Wennihan, Jozee Eaton, Tommi Martin, Jersi Poppa, Alex Barnett, Emmy Laur, and Alexis Bywater. The students are evaluated based off of their GPA the second semester of their sophomore year, which must be 3.5 or higher. They must also have proven their leadership, service, and character and fill out forms. This year, all nine students who applied were accepted. Other members of National Honor Society include Katie Hall, Jaden Goodin, Kelsea Kirwan, Haley Garrison, Tessa Rolf, Sophia Martin, Josie King, Brooke Lee, Stormy Nordhausen, Emilee Caudill, Aaron Schlueter, and Daniel Lesher.
