The 7th-12th grade band, under the direction of Debra Wyatt, performed “Declaration Overture,” “Game of Thrones,” “Loch Lomond,” and “The Avengers” at the spring concert May 11.

The fifth and sixth grade choir sang “Kazoos and Shoes Blues” and “A Million Dreams.”

The junior high choir sang “We’ll Rise Above” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

The K-3 Musical at Fairfax R-3 School’s spring concert was “Go Fish.”

The Fairfax R-3 School K-12 Spring Program was held May 11, 2022.

Junior high band members are: Amelia Larson and Piper Morris, flutes; Lexi Brown, clarinet; Erin Eyman, bass clarinet; Chloe Vernon and Connor Miller, alto sax; Braylon Foster, tenor sax; Joaquin Hill, baritone sax; Austin Helfers, trumpet; Mason Kingery, trombone; and Trent Frohn, percussion.

High school band members are: Stormie Wallace and Payton Woodring, clarinets; Cowen O’Riley, alto sax; Olivia Morris, trumpet; Kendall Kingery and KayDee Duering, baritone; Georgia Swinehart, Hayden Riley, Luke Swinehart, and Clayton Vernon, percussion.

The fourth graders performed “Rolling Along,” “Hot Cross Buns,” and “Viva La Musica” on recorders. Fourth graders are Kaylee Allen, David Bouley, Dominick Bradbury, Gary E. Burke, Zander Grossman, Natalie Hernandez, Delaney Oswald, Mackenzie Oswald, Jaycee Stoner, Ben Umbarger, Alex Wintz, and Lela Wright.

Fifth graders are: Deyton Burke (baritone), Mylisa Folkerts (flute), Brenna Kingery (clarinet), Riley Koop (alto sax), Caroline Larson (trumpet), Jude Long (trumpet), Aliyah Pearce (clarinet), and Olivia Woods (alto sax).

Songs performed by the sixth grade band were “Eye of the Tiger” and “Ayre and Dance.”

Sixth graders are: Ace Allen (clarinet), Lataveon Brown (baritone), Damon Drummond (trumpet), Tyler Duering (percussion), Carley Graham (clarinet), Leila Knight (trumpet), Tabitha Nester (percussion), Knox Oswald (tuba), Bentley Price, Henry Smith (percussion), Jaxson Smith (trombone), Mack Smith, Brady Umbarger (alto sax), Emma Vance (baritone), and Stella VanGundy (percussion).

The K-3 Musical was “Go Fish.” K-3 students are: Xavier Bradbury, Paisleigh Daugherty, Ayden Harber, Lucy Heck, Jo Hurst, Damon Lambert, Nakeyda Mathew, Joella Meston, Isaiah Price, Lane Reed, Alex Rhoades, Ellee Salmond, Abigail Umbarger, Garrett Wintz, kindergarten; Haleena Allen, Addison Bortka, Greenley Grossman, Harper Hicks, Abel Holmes, Presley Knight, Jonah Long, William Oswald, Alan Pickard, and Braleigh Stoner, first grade; Eli Auwarter, Adelynn Giddinge, Chevelle Hall, Trevelyan Hicks, Emma Roecker, Ryann Salmond, and Emmett Umbarger, second grade; Andrew Bouley, Gabriel Cain, Zailynn Cook, Kayleigh Dunn, Cynthia Hernandez, Simon Hurst, Zach Koop, Ava Oswald, Alex Pickard, Gabe Rhoades, Ayden Stoner, Joel Vance, Patrick Wheeler, and Parker Woodring, third grade.

The 7th-12th grade pep band closed the concert with “All Star,” “Gonna Fly Now,” “Crazy Train,” “YMCA,” and the Fairfax School Song.

A band awards banquet was held May 4. The following awards were presented: Rookie of the Year, Luke Swinehart; Most Improved Musician, Cowen O’Riley; Outstanding Bandsman, Olivia Morris; Patrick Gilmore Award, Georgia Swinehart; and John Philip Sousa Award, Olivia Morris.

The following individuals received their first year letter: KayDee Duering, Kendall Kingery, Cowen O’Riley, Luke Swinehart, Clayton Vernon, and Payton Woodring. Olivia Morris received a second year letter, Georgia Swinehart received a third year letter, and Stormie Wallace received a fourth year letter.
