The East Atchison girls find themselves on the podium as a team once again with a fourth place finish as a team scoring 37 points. The East Atchison 4×400 meter relay brings home the hardware as they win by over four seconds dominating the competition. Relay members were Lizzie Schlueter, Grace Oswald, Tommi Martin, and Sophia Martin.

The East Atchison 4×800 meter relay started Saturday off right by winning and setting the tone for the day. Their time of 10:09.41 was three seconds faster than second place. Relay members were Tommi Martin, Claire Martin, Sophia Martin, and Grace Oswald.

Rylee Jenkins earned a first place medal in the discus.

Rylee Jenkins (RP) proved that it only takes one good throw to win it all as she was able to put her last throw right down the middle, hitting a mark of 37.57 meters or 123’ 3” surpassing second place by over one meter. (See page 10 for more state track pictures.)

Tommi Martin (EA) competed individually in both the open 800 meter run and javelin. In the 800 Tommi placed 5th setting a new personal record with a time of 2:24.07. Tommi’s javelin throw of 37.84 meters (below) earned her a second place finish.

Lizzie Schlueter (EA), above and below, ran a 48.64 in the 300 meter hurdles to place fourth.

Kaylin Merriweather (EA), pictured above and below, cleared 1.78 meters to tie for sixth place in the high jump.

Jarrett Spinnato (EA) competed in the 200 meter dash and placed 10th with a time of 23.41.

Grace Oswald (EA) drew the short straw as she had to run the 4×800 and turn around and try to pole vault right afterwards. Grace placed 13th with a vault of 2.40 meters.

Cole Anderson (EA)  competed on Friday in the 3200 meter run and placed 14th with a time of 11:44.96.

The Rock Port 4×800 meter relay placed third with a time of 10:24.74. Relay members, from left to right, were: Mikayla Makings (alternate), Aubrey Watkins, Rylee Jenkins, Avery Meyerkorth, Macie Hale, and Kylie Nuckolls (alternate).

Macie Hale, third leg for the Rock Port 4×800 meter relay, hands off to anchor leg Aubrey Watkins who was able to move the team into third place.

Avery Meyerkorth placed 10th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.52. She also placed 10th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.81.

Phillip Herron ran the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.02, a personal record, and placed 10th.

Colten Stevens had a slow start to the discus as the first three went out-of-bounds. Colten’s final throw was 35.52 meters or 116’ 6” to place 12th overall.

Aubrey Watkins ran 41 seconds faster than last week in the 3200 meter run and placed 13th with a time of 13:00.94.
