The Tarkio Food Pantry and Rock Port Food Pantry worked together with Community Services, Inc. to host a county-wide food drive for the youth who are home from school for the summer. They challenged the churches and community to donate macaroni and cheese cups, fruit cups, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, cereal bars, canned lunches such as ravioli or SpaghettiOs, and ramen noodles.
With the donations received from the community, organizers were able to make food boxes for 67 school-aged children who are signed up with Atchison County Community Services. There is also enough food and monetary donations to do a second box for these families in July. Thank you to all for the donations and support. Organizers look forward to doing this again next summer!
