July 18, 1947

• Clyde Rinehart is opening his new roller skating rink Friday night, July 18. Located on the second floor of the building at the extreme west end of Main Street, it showcases a newly finished floor and plenty of new skates.

• Mrs. Nell Carmean has purchased from Harry Sly the residence property that has been occupied the past few years by Mr. and Mrs. Will Catron, one block south of the old White Eagle station. The property belonged to Jimmy and H.A. Sly.

• Extensive improvements are taking place at the DeLong Hardware store and when they are completed will greatly add to the attractiveness of the place and equip it for the modern method of merchandising hardware. Mr. and Mrs. DeLong and son, Glen, have moved into one of the three modern apartments which Mr. McDonald is constructing over the hardware store.

• Sunday morning’s windstorm is reported to have blown down and badly damaged a portion of the grandstand, chutes, and pens on the Sidney Rodeo grounds. It is reported that a force of 100 men is now at work repairing the damage so that the rodeo can open on the advertised dates.

• Mrs. Marguerite McConnell announces in an ad in this week’s Forum that she is soon to close her ladies’ apparel store in Fairfax.

July 20, 1972

• Miss Vickie Lee Prather and Bill L. Smith exchanged wedding vows at the Tarkio United Methodist Church Saturday evening, July 8. Rev. Byron Gilbreath officiated. Parents of the couple are Mrs. John Prather and the late John Prather of Tarkio and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Smith of Fairfax.

• A project of Community Hospital Auxiliary, a chapel in the Fairfax hospital, is nearing completion with installation of leaded, stained windows in original design. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Chamberlain of Rock Port were donors of the beautiful windows and were designed by them and crafted by Mr. Chamberlain. Another window which opens onto the hallway was designed by Mrs. Dale Seymour.

• Mr. and Mrs. Perry Scott of Wheatridge, Colorado, have entered into contract to purchase the Fairfax residence property of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest King.

July 17, 1997

• Kaitlin Seymour, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lane Seymour of Fairfax, was crowned Miss Fourth of July at the State Theater in Mound City Thursday evening.

• Over The Back Fence by Nancy Gaines: “While sitting at the hospital with my mother, the lady in the room was Eunice Fletcher. Her daughters, Pat and Carol, have been with her and we renewed old acquaintances. They even took me back to the day they shivareed me, now that was over 40 years ago! My mother fell at home and broke her pelvic bone and Eunice suffered a slight stroke at home, so they are both now receiving care at Community Hospital.”
