Area growers are invited to attend an in-field soybean scouting meeting Thursday, July 28, starting at 9:00 a.m. and concluding by 10:30. From Route N in Atchison or Holt County, head east one mile on Atchison/Holt County road. In case of rain, the meeting will be held at the Bill Metzgar farm in his machine shed located on Keystone Drive. Watch for signs.

Dr. Mandy Bish, State Integrated Pest Management Specialist with the University of Missouri, will discuss statewide foliar fungicide data from the Missouri Strip Trial program. This program is supported by the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council.

Next, growers will be able to get hands-on training in the field. Dr. Bish will help growers identify diseases and which can be successfully controlled by fungicides and those which are bacterial diseases which cannot. Also, other diseases such as corn tar spot will be discussed. She will also share resources for weed identification and herbicide injury.

Wayne Flanary, Field Specialist in Agronomy, will discuss Japanese Beetle injury on corn and soybean along with control.
