The Rock Port Park Board met Wednesday July 13, at 6:11p.m. Present were Tisha Jackson, Jennifer Welch, Andrea Cook, Tawni Ellis, and Sheena Roup, park board members; and Carrie Driskell, pool manager.
The meeting agenda was approved. Board members also approved the June 2022 meeting minutes and the June 2022 financials.
Pool Updates
Carrie Driskell gave an update of the 2022 pool season. Swim lessons went well, and the 4th of July games went well.
Concerns about the state of the pool include leaks and cracks becoming a bigger issue.
Park Update
Signs for the fences have been purchased.
There are continued issues with personal dumping in the park dumpsters. The dumpsters at the park are for park use only. Please continue to use the barrels and dumpsters for trash while you are at the park; however, it is not for personal trash from home.
The park board is in talks with Midwest Data Center about updating the pool and park security cameras.
The board held a vote via Google forms with all votes being in favor to order a replacement part for broken playground equipment. The part has been ordered at a cost of $705.75.
A couple caps of the fence were found to have been burned by fireworks.
The park board thanked the Jenkins family for cleaning up the park.
The Trail Planning Committee is continuing to work on plans, resources and funding options for a walking path throughout the city park.
The park board is looking for options of resources and funding for a possible splash pad in the future. They are hoping to form a committee to help with further plans for the splash pad.
The park board is also looking for ideas for fundraisers, and is considering setting up something at Old Fashioned Saturday Night.
The park board also plans to schedule a meeting with the city, school and Rock Port Youth Athletics Association.
The Class of 98 is wanting to do a class reunion at the park next summer and wants to know about special permits.
