Landowners and renters can learn about farm leases from University of Missouri Extension specialists 6:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at seven locations across the state.

Participants can also attend via Zoom, says Joe Koenen, MU Extension county engagement specialist in agriculture and natural resources and longtime presenter on farm leases.

“Open communication is the key,” Koenen says. “Communication helps landlords and tenants find a middle ground for leases and helps both parties understand their responsibilities and rights.”

Topics include current rental rates and trends, items to include in a lease, terminating a lease, recreational leases, and crop and livestock share arrangements.

Locations offering online and in-person sessions include the following: Tarkio Technology Institute, 404 N. 13th Street; Milan Community Center, 203 N. Market Street; MU Extension Center in Lewis County, 104 E. Jefferson Street, Monticello; Carrollton Public Library, 1 Folger Street; MU Extension Center in Callaway County, 5803 County Road 302, Fulton; First Baptist Church, 10479 State Highway P, Potosi; and MU Extension Center in Butler County, 614 Lindsay Street, Poplar Bluff.
