The Fairfax Community Calendars for August 2022 through August 2023 have been printed and distributed to the Daybreak Cafe, Farmers State Bank, and Fairfax Agency, all in Fairfax. These free calendars include Fairfax R-3 School happenings and closures, East Atchison sporting events, and Fairfax residents’ birthdays and anniversaries.

Students will be returning to school in Atchison County next week. This week is a good time to get your child back on a sleep schedule so that they will not be exhausted during class time.

The Fairfax Fair is this weekend. Local residents, businesses, and organizations have put in a lot of time, effort, and finances to make this year’s “Deep in the Heart of Fairfax” fair a success, so please take part and have a great time! Be sure to read about the schedule of events in this issue.

Rock Port and East Atchison will face off for the first time this school year in a football jamboree with Bishop LeBlond and Northwest Nodaway Friday evening, August 19, at 6:00 p.m. in Tarkio. We are working on printing sports schedules, but dates keep changing due to officials’ availability.

The University of Missouri Graves-Chapple Extension and Education Center will not only be celebrating its new name, but also the groundbreaking for a new building at the Field Day event August 23. Breakfast begins the day at 7:30 a.m. and the groundbreaking ceremony is at 11:45 a.m. at 29955 Outer Road, Fairfax, Missouri.
