The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting August 24, 2022. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ryan Kingery at 6:32 p.m. Role was taken. Those in attendance were: Tabitha Winz, Kristi Duering, and Debra Wyatt, Aldermen; Danny Kemerling, Treasurer; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; John Brown, Water Superintendent; and Rod Burke, property owner.

The tentative agenda was approved.

Property Tax Public Hearing

Bill #2022-20 titled: An ordinance providing for the rate of taxation for general and special purposes within the city of Fairfax, Missouri, for the calendar year 2022 was presented to the council and read by title by Ryan Kingery. It was approved and assigned ordinance #2022-02-1563.

Visitors/Presentations/

Public Forum

Rod Burke was present to speak to the council about bringing his property into compliance with city ordinances. After discussing what both sides would like done, the council agreed to work with Mr. Burke as long as progress was being made. Mr. Burke was granted another 30 days for property clean-up and repair. He left meeting at 6:55 p.m.

The minutes of of the July 20, 2022, meeting were approved, as well as accounts payable.

Old Business

Lori gave a report on the status of nuisance letters.

New Business

The council filled out the project list that was sent over by Amy Dowis, Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments. The council rated the potential projects by scoring them from high to low. This project list will help Amy with grant and different funding opportunities for Fairfax.

Reports were given by Danny Kemerling, Treasurer; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; and John Brown, Water Superintendent.
