Under the sponsorship of the Tarkio Parks and Recreation Department, citizens are invited to celebrate their friends by taking part in Friendship Day activities in Tarkio.
The festivities begin this Friday, September 23, with the Flower Mill in Tarkio providing free flowers (until they run out) to hand out to your friends. Flower supply is limited so hurry down to the Flower Mill starting at 7:00 a.m. at 606 Main Street.
The Friendship Day fair starts at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, on Main Street in Tarkio. Vendor and food booths will be set up. Some of the vendors and companies who are planning to be there include: Riley’s Clothing Co., Paigstries and pumpkins, Maria Reed, Scentsy, Tarkio Police and Fire Departments, Tarkio Tech, and Debbie Driskell. For $5 each, everyone can participate in a number of fun games and bounce houses. This entry fee also includes cotton candy, snow cones, hot dogs, and water. There will also be a Cutest Little Elf contest, a ping pong ball drop, temporary tattoos, face painting, a petting zoo, beer garden (for those 21 and older), corn hole tournament, and much more!
The Cutest Little Elf Contest is new this year. Children 0-12 months, 1 to 3 years, and 4 to 6 years will vie for a chance to be crowned the Cutest Little Elf, with category winners riding with Mr. and Mrs. Christmas in the Tarkio Christmas Light Parade December 17, 2022. The children do not have to dress in Christmas attire for this contest. Participants do not have to live in Tarkio, but must be willing to commit to coming back to Tarkio on December 17 for the parade. Your child must be registered by Thursday, September 22. The Corn Hole Tournament will begin at 6:45 p.m. in front of the beer garden. All participants must be signed up by September 22. Contact a Tarkio Parks and Recreation member or send a private message to their Facebook page.
Some of the bounce house games on hand include a human foosball game, bucking bull ride, carnival games, gladiator wars, axe throw, and obstacle course. Activities will be held all evening long, so stop by and enjoy!
Tarkio Parks and Rec has more special activities planned. A movie(s) and hayride night will be held October 15 at the Tarkio Tech campus, the Tarkio Halloween Parade/Trunk or Treat will take place October 29 on Main Street, and the Tarkio Christmas Light Parade will be held December 17. There will also be a Mr. and Mrs. Christmas Contest and Christmas Light Contest.
