The East Atchison Wolves varsity football team traveled to Mound City, Missouri, September 30, 2022, to take on the Mound City/Craig Panthers, who were 1 and 4 going into Friday night’s game.
The Wolves wasted no time getting on the board with a 54 yard run for a touchdown by Jarrett Spinnato. The two point conversion was also good. Spinnato then ran in a 26 yard touchdown and with the successful two-point conversion, the game went up to 16-0 Wolves.
Braden Graves caused a fumble and picked it up and ran 29 yards to put more points on the board for the Wolves (the two-point conversion failed). Spinnato added some more points with a two yard run and with the successful two-point conversion, the first quarter ended EA 30 – Mound City 0.
In the second quarter, EA’s Blake Simmons had a 27 yard run for a touchdown. The two-point conversion failed. He then threw a 23 yard pass to Graves to help the Wolves tack on another six points. With a successful two-point conversion, the Wolves were up 44-0. The Panthers were then able to finally put up their own numbers with a 54 yard run. However, those six points would be the only sign of life from the Panthers. Spinnato added another 33 yard touchdown and two-point conversion and Gavyn Irvine would add a three-yard run of his own, with a successful two-point conversion, to end the game with a Wolf victory of 60-6.
The undefeated Wolves will be on the road again this week as they travel to Stewartsville, Missouri, to take on the Stewartsville/Osborn Wildcards Friday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcards are 4 and 3 on the season.
