The Tarkio R-I Board of Education met September 21, 2022. Garrett Wood, president, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Others in attendance were: Jamie Barnett, Brooke Vette, Chris Yates, Josh Wright, Heather Olson, and Sam Hannah, board members; Lanette Hogue, board secretary; Carrie Livengood, superintendent; Kari Taylor, elementary principal/special education director; Nick Kemerling, high school principal; and Renee Hull, Blu Dow and Dallas Prather, Tarkio R-I teachers and staff members.
The consent agenda was approved, as well as district obligations.
The CTA report and TAC report were shared.
Kari Taylor, principal, reported that the elementary has 166 students enrolled preschool through fifth grade. The August attendance rate was 96%. Mrs. Hull has started dyslexia screenings. Mrs. Taylor also shared that the building climate is very positive.
In special education, they continue to work on transfer paperwork and referrals.
Nick Kemerling, high school principal, reported there are 168 children enrolled sixth through 12th grades. The attendance rate for August was 96%. He reported golf, cross country, football and volleyball are all underway. Mr. Kemerling shared a survey he had given to the students.
Superintendent Livengood gave a financial report. Tarkio R-I ended August with $1.365 million more than last year at the end of August. She reported that there are seven students attending Northwest Technical School and six students attending Tarkio Tech. Mrs. Livengood reported that she has completed the program evaluation portion of CSIP. Mrs. Livengood reported that Veregy was here on September 13, 2022, and did a walk-through with her and Bill and went over HVAC options. Mrs. Livengood also shared a report from Marla on food service.
Old Business
Mrs. Kari Taylor shared a program evaluation for Title.
New Business
Board members voted unanimously to approve the program evaluation schedule as presented.
Mrs. Livengood shared a status on the career ladder.
Board members approved the revision to the drug testing policy.
Mrs. Livengood shared the possibility of hiring a social worker/behavioral interventionist. The position has been posted and the school has received one applicant. This was tabled until the next meeting.
