The 2022-23 school year is off to a fantastic start with many events and activities to celebrate. We had 29 students run for elementary student council positions in 3rd-6th grades. Congratulations to this year’s leadership team: Rozlyn McCown, Tenley Peshek, Zeke Gebhards, Archer Meyerkorth, Jack Bailey, Nella Steuter, Austin Alexander, and Greyson Sperber. Student Council prepares and leads our daily announcements, Energy Bus assemblies, Frozen Friday treat days, and many more activities throughout the school year.

We had our first Energy Bus Rally of the year for Principle #1 “You’re the Driver.” The focus is on getting students to take responsibility for their actions and decisions, in other words, “drive your bus.” We had an amazing turnout of parents and family members to help celebrate the following students: Jagger Jones, Leah Meyerkorth, Kendall Wamsley, Aislyn Barnes, Dale Pinzino, Corten Hastert, Tara Wamsley, Wyatt Pinzino, Lucy Ottmann, Izzy Carpenter, Jovie Millsap, Collin Stanton, Cass Stanton, Jersey Jones, Jolie Steuter, Rory Robertson, Isaiah Newbanks, Logan Schlup, Kinsley Nuckolls, Ethan Hunter, Kayleigh Dunn, Blaise Krogen, Sadie Clodfelter, Avery Schomburg, Cy Vogler, and Stevie Gaines.

October’s Energy Bus Principle #2 is “Create a Positive Vision.” Now that students are behind the wheel of their bus, they need to determine where they want to go. The focus is on goal setting. Students have opportunities within their classrooms to set goals each quarter for reading and/or math performance. At our most recent assembly, we unveiled our school-wide goal of 9,500 Accelerated Reader points for the year. It will be a challenge, but one our students are certainly capable of and committed to reaching.

Our Fall Festival costume parade and classroom parties are scheduled for the afternoon of October 28. We will visit Pleasant View Nursing Home to show off our costumes. We greatly appreciate Pleasant View inviting us up again this year, the smiles on residents’ faces during this time is a great reminder of the joy and delight kids can bring to others.

Other upcoming events include: Parent-Teacher Conferences (October 24), Red Ribbon Week (October 24-28), Veterans Day “Walk of Honor” (November 11), and Elementary K-3 music program (December 15).
