Lida M. (Mabrey) Meek, 93, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

She was born on May 28, 1929, in Angel Hollow, between Craig and Fairfax, Missouri. She lived her entire life not far from the hollow in Northwest Missouri. She attended school in Corning and Craig, Missouri, and then graduated from Rock Port High School in 1948.

She married R.L. Jacobs in 1951, and they had two sons together. She then married Harry “Gene” Meek in 1958 and had two daughters.

Lida worked at Greenley’s Grocery Store and Chamberlain’s Studio and Greenhouse in Rock Port. She retired from the Coast to Coast Store in Savannah, but then returned to work at the Savannah Senior Center for several years.

Lida was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dora (Fickle) Mabrey of Corning and her brother, J.C. Mabrey of Independence, Missouri.

Survivors include her sister, Bessie “Bobbie” Sartain of Independence, Missouri; her children, Roy Jacobs of Holden, Missouri, Charlie (Lori) Jacobs of Independence, Missouri, Teresa (Mike) Stanton of Lee’s Summit, and Brenda (Adam) Hainey of St. Joseph, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port. Care is entrusted to Chamberlain Funeral Home, Rock Port. Online condolences may be left at www.chamberlainfuneral.com.
