The Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary Unit 199 met October 10, 2022, with five members attending. President Linda Kaye Payton opened an informal meeting. A sixth member joined later, allowing us to vote on issues.

The minutes of the last meeting was read by Secretary Barb Hines and approved as read. The financial report was given by Treasurer Sheridan Mires.

Membership was discussed. This is the start of a new year, so members need to see or send their dues to Barb Hines.

The fall rummage sale is set for October 21-22. Donation take-in starts on October 12 and will continue on October 13, 14, 17, 18, and 19, 1:00-4:00 p.m. No donations will be accepted on October 20 to allow us time to finish unpacking and organizing. Please do not donate old computers/TVs or tires. Our rummage sale chairperson is KC Hines. If you have questions, call 660-623-9297.

Deep cleaning of the building will start on October 26. A list of duties will be on hand and needs to be signed off as they are completed.

The community Thanksgiving dinner will be on November 6. We will be eating inside the building as in the past. We will have delivery to shut-ins only and orders need to be placed by 10:30 that morning or earlier. If you want a carry-out meal you can get in line and we will help you fix them. There will be no curbside service. Sheridan and Linda Kaye took inventory of what we have and what is needed for our Hy-Vee and Falls City orders. The rest of the schedule for food preparation was discussed. The articles for the paper and flyers was discussed. Due to the cost of food and other products the meal price will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.

The 4th District meeting will be on November 14, 2022, in Burlington Junction. We will have our bazaar at that time. Let Linda Kaye know if you would like to go.

There was no new business and the meeting was adjourned by Linda Kaye.
