Two crashes occurred on the same day within a few hours of each other outside of Fairfax, Missouri.

A one vehicle crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. on November 3, 2022, one mile south of Fairfax, Missouri. A 2013 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Joyce R. Strough, 81, of Skidmore, Missouri, was travelling on Hwy. 46 and failed to stop at the intersection of Highways 46 and 59. The vehicle travelled off the west side of 59 and struck an embankment, coming to rest off the west side of the roadway on its wheels facing west.

Strough, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported by an Atchison-Holt ambulance to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax. The Impala sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Double M Towing.

Later that morning at 7:20 a.m., a 2019 Kia Optima, driven by McKinley M. Daniels, 24, of Fairfax, was eastbound on Hwy. 46 and struck a deer crossing the road four miles outside of Fairfax east of Route N. The vehicle came to rest in the roadway on its wheels facing east.

Daniels, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported by an Atchison-Holt ambulance to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax. The Kia sustained extensive damage and was secured at the scene.

Both accidents were investigated by MSHP Sgt. K.F. Jeffers, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and Atchison-Holt Ambulance District.
