The Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department was called out to 301 College Street in Tarkio at 6:46 p.m. on December 31, 2022. The resident’s dryer caught fire while running, causing interior fire damage and smoke damage throughout the whole house along with a couple exterior hot spots that had to be addressed on the outside of the house.
Evergy and Empire disconnected power and gas from the house and Tarkio Board of Public Works responded to shut off the water supply, which was leaking. Tarkio Police Officer Nic Schebaum was on scene, also. No mutual aid was needed. A total of nine fireman and three trucks reported to scene.
