The Tarkio R-I Board of Education meeting was called to order by President Garrett Wood at 7:00 p.m. December 21, 2022, at Tarkio High School. Board members in attendance were: Jamie Barnett, Sam Hannah, Josh Wright, Brooke Vette, Chris Yates and Heather Olson. Others in attendance included: board secretary Lanette Hogue, Tarkio Elementary Principal/Special Education Director Kari Taylor, and teachers and staff members Dallas Prather, Blu Dow, and Markie Sundermann.
Blu Dow exited the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Brooke Vette exited the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
The board members voted to approve the consent agenda and district obligations. TAC and CTA reports were shared.

Dallas Prather addressed her concerns as a taxpayer over the facilities project.
Administrative Reports
Elementary Principal Kari Taylor reported that the elementary had 93% attendance for November. The third grade held their Thanksgiving program and kindergarten-second grade held their Christmas program. The elementary enjoyed dress-up days for the 12 days of Christmas. The elementary went caroling at the nursing home on December 20 and held the annual Sing Around the Christmas Tree December 21.
The high school principal’s report was given. The music department held their Christmas program. The basketball and wrestling seasons are in full swing. The high school girls and boys basketball teams placed third in the Mound City Tournament. The annual Christmas Ball was held December 10. FFA concluded their annual fruit sales. Quin Staten earned one of the 250 nationwide $1,000 FFA SAE Grants to fund his Supervised Agricultural Project.
The superintendent’s report was given. A financial report was shared from Mrs. Livengood. The report showed that Tarkio R-I ended November $1.229 million up from this time last year.
Facilities Update – Chris Yates moved and Jamie Barnett seconded to approve the renovations in the amount of $9,123,831.00 pending final negotiations with Veregy. The motion carried 6-1.
The 2021-22 audit was approved.
The District Report Card and a transportation program evaluation were shared.
The board members unanimously voted to approve Ellie Graves as the 2023 graduation speaker.
The final CSIP plan was unanimously approved.
Board members voted unanimously to approve Tessa Rolf as the Belcher Scholarship recipient.
Mackenzie Brockoff was hired as an assistant girls basketball coach at a rate of $981.90 for the remainder of the season due to Mrs. Seiter leaving for maternity leave.
