The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry Board met Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in Tarkio, Missouri, with 13 members present. Churches represented were: Fairfax – Methodist, Presbyterian, and Christian; Tarkio – First Baptist, Christian, Church of God, United Methodist, and Presbyterian; and Westboro – United Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran. Sam O’Riley represented Community Services.

In January, 81 individuals were served, representing 37 households. In February, 66 individuals representing 34 households were assisted.

The board is very appreciative of the work of Mark and Quin Staten as they volunteer to do snow removal for the pantry’s sidewalk.

Officers elected in January for the coming year include: Cathy Riggins, president; Lois Powell, vice-president; Anita Sutter, treasurer; and Patty Rolofson, secretary.

The Westboro United Methodist Church will open the pantry March 21, 23, 28, and 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. They will also open the pantry on Tuesday, March 21, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Fairfax Baptist and Christian Churches will open the pantry April 18, 20, 25, and 27 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The pantry will also be open Tuesday evening, April 18, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The next board meeting will be Tuesday, May 9, at 9:30 a.m. at the food pantry. The pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio.

The food pantry is currently low on the following items: grape juice (64 oz.), tomato juice (46 oz. can), saltine crackers, complete pancake mix, syrup (64 oz.), brownie mix, soups (cream of mushroom, chicken noodle, tomato, cream of chicken, vegetable beef, chili), Jello and instant puddings (small box), and dish soap.

Monetary donations are also appreciated as the money allows the shelves to be stocked with the items that are low. Donations intended for the local food pantry need to be given directly to the pantry. For after hours donations, call 816-261-2672.
