Dr. Tim Crowley was the guest speaker at the Women in Ag event held Thursday, March 30, 2023, in the Tarkio Community Building.

Nearly 70 women enjoyed an evening of positive messages and fun at the Atchison County Women in Ag event in Tarkio on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Local entrepreneurs featured their products at a vendor fair, ranging from artwork to food to clothing and more.

Mandy Herron, with Flowers and Forge Farms of Rock Port, shared her farm story, discussed the technique of soil blocking when planting seeds, and gave women the opportunity to create their own flower seed starter pot to take home.

Dr. Tim Crowley, having reached over a million people in his career as an inspirational speaker and trainer, shared his message of living life to the fullest and how everyone can make a difference in demonstrating kindness in their local communities. Participants engaged with each other during his presentation to demonstrate the power of face-to-face conversations and active listening.

Numerous door prizes were given out and the silent auction proceeds will be used for next year’s program. The event was a partnership of the Atchison County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), Atchison County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), and University of Missouri Extension. The committee is thankful for the generosity of sponsors who made this opportunity possible and to everyone who attended and participated.
