The Rock Port Park Board met Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Members present were Jennifer Geib, Jill Lager, Clint Dougherty, Tawni Ellis, Sheena Roup, and Andrea Cook.

The meeting agenda was approved.

Board members voted to approve the minutes of the January 11 and February 8 meetings.

The February financials were tabled for approval until March.

Pool Staffing & Wages

Dalton Jones was hired as the 2023 pool manager and Richard Fentiman was hired as the assistant manager. Board members voted to pay the pool manager $5,000 (with certification), and the assistant pool manager $3,000 for the 2023 pool season.

Dylan Kemerling, Cali Driskell, Keira Roup, and Jacoby Driskell were hired as lifeguards for the 2023 pool season. Sheena Roup abstained. Lifeguard wages were unanimously approved as follows: Dylan Kemerling and Cali Driskell at the rate of $11.25 per hour for one year of experience, and Keira Roup and Jacoby Driskell at the rate of $11.00 per hour. Sheena Roup abstained.

Pool season rates will be: daily admittance, $5; single season pass, $60; family season pass, $125 (up to five family members); additional family members, $15; babysitter, $20 (only valid when babysitting children on pass); senior citizen single season pass, $50; and senior citizen family season pass, $110.

Project Updates

A separate pump and filter will be installed in the wading pool prior to the start of the 2023 pool season.

Chairs will replace the bench in the wading area and the bench will be relocated somewhere in the park.

The submittal package with Renosys has been reviewed and resubmitted for changes. Welders should be arriving sometime this month to do all the welding work necessary for the PVC liner install.

Board members voted unanimously to request the use of ARPA funds to purchase the vortex ½ tube slide with staircase for $34,016.68.

Park

Possible solutions were discussed in regard to fixing the large shelter house.

Increased surveillance is needed at the park. Funding is needed in order to proceed.

Other Business

Park Board vacancies have been tabled until later in March. No applications have been received at this time.

The Rock Port Youth Athletic Association and Rock Port R-II Schools are currently working on the permanent baseball fence. The vehicle access point will be relocated nearby.
