Megan Cosman, representing North Star Advocacy Center, was the guest speaker at the noon meeting of the Tarkio Rotary Club on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Megan shared that the center advocates for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. They maintain a 24-hour crisis hotline and a 24-hour temporary emergency shelter. They offer support groups, are advocates in court, advocates in hospitals and help victims obtain orders of protection. The center serves the counties of Atchison, Holt, Worth, Nodaway and Gentry counties. They work closely with the C.A.R.E. advocates in Atchison County. (Submitted by Anita Sutter)
