The Rock Port High School Choir, directed by Abby Palmer, sang a patriotic medley.

The American Legion Post presented the colors and Girl Scout Troop #8453 led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Local citizens joined with the nation in prayer on National Day of Prayer Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Atchison County Memorial Building in Rock Port. This year’s theme was “Pray Fervently in Righteousness and Avail Much.”

The local event was sponsored by the Rock Port Ministerial Alliance. The Rock Port National Day of Prayer service was organized by First Lutheran Church.

Joni True welcomed those present and Lisa Wilczek gave the opening prayer for the nation.

The American Legion Post presented the colors and Girl Scout Troop #8453 led the Pledge of Allegiance. Rock Port Mayor Amy Thomas read a proclamation, and Kylie Nuckolls sang the national anthem.

Shawn Minter was the speaker.

Seven Prayers of Influence were offered by the following: Prayers for the Church by Paul Tiemeyer, Prayers for the Media by W.C. Farmer, Prayers for Government by Brett Hurst, Prayers for Education by Donnie Parsons, Prayers for Military by Thomas Herron, Prayers for Business by Jim Clodfelter, and Prayers for Families by Regan Griffin.
