No self-closing door to restroom. No hand-washing signage. Unshielded light bulbs in kitchen. Outside door propped open (no screening).

Hy-Vee, 110 Chestnut Street, Tarkio. Grocery store. Priority Items: None. Core Items: Unshielded lights. Eight of 10 reach-in freezer doors have torn door seals (only three are seriously bad). Missing ceiling tile in meat department. Discussed fan out, repairman notified.

Rock Port R-II School, 600 S. Market, Rock Port. School cafeteria.  Priority Items: PHF’s not held at 41°F or below. Meats (frozen) stored above breads in walk-in freezer. Core Items: Torn screen to outside/back door. Stained ceiling tiles. Damaged floor tiles.

Subway, 303 S. 10th Street, Tarkio. Restaurant. Priority Items: None. Core Items: Bad door gasket (towards bottom) on walk-in freezer door. Box of banana chilis stored on floor in back room.

Food Country, 300 U.S. Hwy. 136, Rock Port. Grocery store. Priority Items: None. Core Items: Reach-in doors with torn gaskets. Produce/deli walk-in cooler door gasket is torn. Cabinet the soda dispenser sets on is in disrepair. Soda box rack leakage under rack. Unshielded light bulbs. Damaged wall by west door to back room.

Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry, 315 Main Street, Tarkio. Institution / Food Pantry. Priority Items: None. Core Items: Restroom door propped open. Discussed food storage (pork above beef and beef above chicken).

Dominator Oil, 1306 U.S. Hwy. 136, Rock Port. Convenience store/gas station/restaurant. Inspector’s Comments: Manager was not there – left work with the staff. Inspector to return next week as their cooler went down yesterday, PHF’s relocated to other units, but everything is still a mess. The inspector informed them he would not be in Atchison County next week, but would be here June 6. Noted main store was very warm – Air conditioner is out.

Ray’s Dairy Diner, 301 Main Street, Fairfax. Restaurant. Priority Items: None. Core Items: Milk dispenser tube not cut diagonally. Noticed a few flies. Discussed consumer advisory for undercooked meats and food allergens.

Dominator Oil, 1306 U.S. Hwy. 136, Rock Port. Convenience store/gas station/restaurant. Priority Items: Rodent droppings in cabinets under the self-serve beverage machines. Styrofoam cups have been eaten on – all these need disposed of, cabinets cleaned, and pest control service contacted. Also, flies in kitchen area and restrooms. Core Items: No thermometer for cooks to use. No test kits for sanitizer. No handles on pizza prep table lids. Women’s left sink drain very slow. Three-bay sink faucet is dripping. Microwave is dirty. Bathroom odors – men’s is very bad. Dirty can opener. Hot foods (sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches) not held at 135°F or above and/or timer used as temperature control not followed. *Note – cook went home sink/kitchen being manned. Core Items: Damaged wall in hallway between restrooms – some damage in restroom. Hole in wall under three-bay sink. *Note – both restroom doors don’t completely close.

Happy Hills Gas & Coffee Co., 1201 U.S. Hwy. 136 W., Rock Port. Walk-through of new truck stop. Target date to open – end of July. Gourmet coffee shop, sit-down dining, full kitchen and c-store. Adequate ware washing and hand sinks. Floor to be sealed concrete. Walls painted/washable.
