• Forumettes column: “Fairfax’s two grain elevators have been handling a lot of wheat the past week and at least eight car loads have been shipped from here. This is not ordinarily a wheat growing community, but more of it was raised this year. Much wheat is being marketed here from the Craig bottoms and the Tarkio territory.”
• Jim Irvine has bought the residence property of Roy Wilson a block south and one-half block east of the Moore Bros. service station. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson will hold a public sale of their household goods Saturday afternoon.
• Miss Beulah Hunter is making major improvements to her drug store. The wall at the south end is being completely rebuilt, the basement floored with cement, stairs which lead to the second floor have been rebuilt, and a furnace is to be installed.
• Emil Aanderud, revival song leader, will lead the singing at the union revival to start in Fairfax July 20. He has played with some of the country’s leading bands and has been on the NBC network.
• Rapid progress has been made the past week on the foundation of Fairfax Community Hospital and soon the brick work will start. The building is to be 132×42 feet with wing of 35×42 feet. It will face the north on lots given by Mrs. Anna P. Taylor.

• Mrs. Robert H. Resler and sons, Jim and Robert, returned July 2 from a three-week trip to Zaragoza, Spain, where they visited their son and brother, Tom Resler and his wife. They were surprised to read an account of the Dean Bolton story in an international newspaper printed in Paris, to which Tom subscribes.
• A young Chicago couple, Rev. and Mrs. Warren Wilkewitz, will direct the children’s camp at the 11th Annual Institute of Basic Theology on the Tarkio College campus July 22-27. The children’s camp is for children whose parents are attending the institute and for children of the Tarkio area.
• Several youth have been painting the basement of the new park state, which is being transformed into a youth center. Mrs. Sally Ahl, assistant professor religion at Tarkio College, bicycled to Fairfax to help the students.
• Wilbur Schooler and his wife, Betty, of Craig escaped an attempted robbery and perhaps attempted murder when two people entered their funeral home Sunday night. Upon attempts to escape, Mr. Schooler was pistol whipped and shot at and Mrs. Schooler had a knife thrown at her and was also shot at. Both managed to get to safety and the intruders took off. Schooler had seen the intruders elsewhere and because they did not attempt to disguise themselves in the incident, he was able to give a detailed description to law enforcement. No arrests have been made yet.

• Atchison County 4-H members recently attended the 4-H Citizenship Workshop in Jefferson City, Missouri. They included Jennifer Ray and LeAnn Graves of Fairfax, Karla Murphy and Sasha Hogue of rural Westboro, and Ben and David Gebhards of Rock Port.
• High winds and three inches of rain hit Fairfax early Friday morning, July 3. The winds took down a building owned by R & L Feed & Farm on Hwy. 59 and several trees and limbs also fell.
• Miss Fairfax Queen contestants are Jenea’ Kemerling, Rachel Sipes, Ashley Grossman, Kara Kemerling, Stephanie Sinkhorn, Kasie Morris, Katy Hunter, and Lexi Ballinger.
