• Harry Emrick has purchased a half interest in the Fairfax Locker Plant Grocery. The grocery department will be known in the future as the E.&S. Grocery and will be run by Mr. Emrick. Mr. Stalcup will devote his time to the management and operation of the locker plant.
• Albert Lee and Marvin Jones, 11- and 8 year-old-sons of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jones of west of town, were injured Tuesday morning when a tractor they were driving got out of control, climbed a grade, and turned over. Albert Lee has a severe nose injury and lacerations about the face and Marvin suffered a broken right shoulder and left shoulder blade, a collar bone out of place, a broken wrist, and possible internal injuries.
• Donald Olson is the new local manager of the Craven Implement Co., taking the place of Lewis Schroeder. Mrs. Olson is the former Miss Macel Dunfee, formerly of the Daleview community.
• One of the big tractor-trailer combinations belonging to Warren Chambers was stolen some time early last Thursday morning and was located in Omaha, Nebraska. Two young fellows who ate supper at the Smith Cafe Wednesday night had inquired about getting to Omaha. Later they were seen near the truck.
• “Gone With The Wind,” one of the greatest motion pictures ever produced, will be shown at the Fair Theatre Sunday and Monday.

• The Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department, under the direction of Chief Wayne Harrington, reported to the Fairfax Community Hospital Friday, July 27, for a simulated fire drill. Firemen taking part in the drill were Don Kerr, Tom Miller, and Gilbert Johnson.
• Fairfax youth will be knocking on doors Friday evening to launch early ticket sales for the Union Mill Opry performance at the city park Thursday, August 9.
• The Fairfax Community Club is sponsoring a flea market Saturday, August 4. Exhibitors will display merchandise on South Broadway all day for sale or trade.
• Lane Seymour, Missouri University student and member of the Navy ROTC, gave a program to Kiwanians Tuesday reporting of a summer cruise on a large, nuclear submarine in the North Pacific. The cruise lasted two months as part of his navy training and the ship was submerged for the entire duration.
• Fairfax grocers report that beef is in short supply from their wholesale connections. Hunter reports a week with no beef in the meat case, but expects a supply this week. Don Kerr stated he has been able to keep a limited supply.

• Fairfax 4-Hers spent a day at the Tarkio Municipal Pool.
• Highway 59 reopened Friday after being closed all week for construction of the storm drain that was put in underneath the highway. The Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department helped clean off the debris that was left over after the work.
• The Fairfax R-3 School District has received word that the grant written by Mrs. Dixie Stoner has been approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the 1998-99 school year. Its goal is to help students explore and learn science concepts through the use of science kits.
