The Atchison County Library invited friends to the first “Third Thursday” event on September 21, 2023, at the Tarkio branch. Children in the morning group enjoyed story time with Children’s Librarian Amanda Vette. She read Curious George Visits the Library and A Library Book for Bear. After story time, they enjoyed playing with apple pie themed sensory bins and were treated to applesauce and apple juice for treats. The group then took a tour of the library.

The second event was held in the evening and was open to all children and family members. Amanda read Brenda’s Burgled Bakery to the group as they helped the bear in the book solve a mystery of stolen baked goods. For crafts, the group learned about quilling and made their own fall-themed artwork. They enjoyed “apple pie” snacks made with graham crackers, apple pie filling and whipped cream.
