Remote control cameras, large display screens and fiberoptic internet access will create a one-of-a-kind experience for students of the Halas Business Program. One room at the Curnutt Center in the Thompson Library at Tarkio Technology Institute is being transformed into a state-of-the-art classroom that will let in-person and online students interact with each other as well as with local and remote instructors.

“‘Engagement’ is our watchword,” said Halas director Lane Seymour. “We aim to provide not just business information for our students but a viable personal business plan for each one. Those plans will be built and honed over the two semesters of the program through the students’ engagement with the material, the instructors, and with each other. Our classroom will provide the greatest level of interaction that high speed internet and modern audio-visual equipment can achieve.”

Northwest A/V of Maryville and Midwest Data Center of Rock Port installed the equipment and systems for the classroom. Funding was provided by supporters of the business program.

When not in use by Halas the classroom can be rented to outside school and community groups for classes, webinars, and other presentations.
