Anyone with an Atchison County Library card can now enjoy 30,000+ free videos from the streaming service Kanopy. This new service is made possible in part from the Pat Walker Memorial Fund. Pat Walker was a friend of the library and an avid movie watcher and the library is very grateful for this contribution.

Kanopy offers high-quality films and television shows to libraries around the globe that inspire, educate and entertain. The unique selection offers something for everyone, from award winning indie films to important and timely documentaries, popular cinema, children’s shows and more.

“We are so excited to expand the possibilities for learning and entertainment our patrons will have access to thanks to their library cards,” said Library Director Jennifer Roup.

Many of Kanopy’s videos are not available on any other streaming video platform. The experience is easy to use and completely advertisement free. Users can access Kanopy on their desktop or laptop computer, mobile device, TV apps, and more.

The library’s Kanopy subscription gives users access to five play credits per month. Each video will use one play credit regardless of length, unless you are accessing videos from Kanopy Kids, Great Courses, or the list of Monthly Credit-Free Films. These collections do not require any play credits to view.

Kanopy Kids offers a carefully curated collection of children’s programming that supports early literacy and STEM education.

“I am personally most excited to watch A&E documentaries and I think parents will be excited about Sesame Street streaming and the ad-free Kanopy Kids option,”  Jennifer said.
