David L. Cook, the son of Rolla Claude and Mildred (Alexander) Cook, was born January 13, 1956, in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1974.
On May 24, 1980, David was united in marriage to Renee Powers. They became the parents of one son, Clinton. They later divorced.
Following high school, David was employed by Top Kick Oil, Rock Port, and worked as manager while Mildred kept the books. He also worked for Hen House, Rock Port, Pella Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Curfman Hardware, Tarkio, Missouri, where he enjoyed working on small engines. David later was employed in the construction of Trail’s End, Rock Port, and finally was employed as the head custodian for Hamburg School District, Hamburg, Iowa.
David enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, and participating in archery tournaments. He passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 67.
David was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include son, Clinton G. (Crystal) Cook, Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren, Clayton Cook, Arielle Casey, Brian Ashcraft, Sage Parrott, and Robbie Somerville; brother, Richard H. Cook, Rock Port; nephews, Greg Cook and Adam (Ashley) Cook, both of Rock Port; four great-nieces and -nephews; and numerous cousins.
There is no scheduled visitation or memorial service. Private family inurnment will be held at Millsap Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
