A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Tarkio, Missouri, for Sarah Ryan of Tarkio. Interment was held at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Father Duc Nguyen was the officiant. The service was under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Sarah Lee (Leap) Ryan, the daughter of Mary Catherine Leap, was born November 14, 1927, in Tarkio. She attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1945. Sarah then attended Tarkio College for three years.
On February 21, 1949, Sarah was united in marriage to Dennis Jerome “Jerry” Ryan at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Tarkio. They became the parents of five children, Ronald, Mark, Debbie, Dennis, and David, and made their home in Tarkio their entire married life. Jerry passed away in 1996.
Sarah was employed as a teacher’s aide for Tarkio Elementary School for numerous years. She then was employed as a store clerk for Dave’s Convenience Store, Tarkio, retiring in 2010.
Sarah was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Tarkio. She enjoyed tending to flowers and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sarah passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 95.
Besides her mother and husband, Jerry, Sarah was preceded in death by infant son, Ronald Jerome. Survivors include children, Mark Ryan, Tarkio, Debbie (Mark) Sly, Fairfax, and Dennis Ryan and David (Mary Kay) Ryan, both of Tarkio; grandchildren, Nicole, Tiffanie, and Tony; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Skylar, Kaitlyn, Stevie, Markie, Hudson, Nola, and Veda; numerous nieces and nephews; and honorary daughter, D’Ann Mires.
