Tarkio Boy Scout Bo Peregrine chose renovating the North Polk Schoolhouse, a one-room schoolhouse located at Hwy. 59 and Park Street in Tarkio, as his Eagle Scout project. With the help of fellow Scouts, volunteers, and members of the Tarkio Parks & Recreation Department, Bo recently completed this project! It takes a village and this one rocks! Thank you to the other Troop 88 members who helped with the initial phase of this project as well.
In order to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in BSA, Bo had to lead and conduct a service project. Bo chose the schoolhouse because he felt it was a need in our community.
Bo took off as much old paint as possible and then repainted the entire exterior the schoolhouse. He also cleaned up the landscaping by removing the old bushes.
By completing this project, it makes Tarkio more welcoming to the eye as drivers enter into town from the north and more memorable when they pass by as they exit. With the update, he hopes that more people can enjoy the schoolhouse when visiting the community.
