
Billy Dale Brunk was born at the Kemerling home farm near Tarkio, Missouri, on January 31, 1940, to Billy O. Brunk and Luretta Ruth Kemerling. He attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1958.
Billy Dale was an active Boy Scout, attending the National Jamboree and Philmont. He was also a member of the Tarkio Rough Riders and attended the National High School Rodeo in Reno, Nevada. After high school, he attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. There he met Susan O’Dell, and they were married in July 1961. They were the parents of two sons, Jeffrey Dale and Scott Clifford O. They were later divorced. He was subsequently married twice, both marriages ended before his death.
Billy Dale served his country in the United States Army Reserve. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He loved fishing, dogs, Westerns, and deviled eggs! He passed away at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care on November 22, 2023, at the age of 83, where he was known for being ornery and a tease.
Billy Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandparents, Clarence and Lillian Brunk. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Dale and Scott Clifford O.; his grandchildren, Sidney Jo, Danny, and Derek; his two sisters, Linda Brunk Smith and Dr. Rebecca Turnbull; and brother, Tim Turnbull.
There is no scheduled visitation or memorial service. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to New Nodaway Humane Society, Maryville, Missouri.
