Rock Port and East Atchison high school basketball teams are competing in the Mound City Tournament this week. Rock Port plays at 7:30 p.m. (girls) and 9:00 p.m. (boys) on Tuesday. East Atchison plays at 4:30 p.m. (girls) and 6:00 p.m. (boys) on Tuesday and 4:30 p.m. (girls) on Wednesday. Winners will advance. Go teams!

Stop by Community Hospital-Fairfax on Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to purchase a poinsettia. Proceeds from the sale, held in the conference room, will go to the purchase of hospital equipment. The hospital is holding a lighting ceremony that evening at 6:00 p.m. Santa will be there with hot cocoa, hot apple cider, and cookies.

There’s a lot of holiday excitement to be found in Tarkio this Saturday, beginning in the morning with the Reindeer Fun Run at 8:00 a.m. and the Christmas Celebration at 9:00 a.m. at the Tarkio Community Building and ending with the Tarkio Christmas Light Parade on Main Street at 7:00 p.m. Don’t miss out on the fun!

The Rock Port Christmas Mall will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Atchison County Memorial Building. Vendors will be set up selling their wares and Santa Claus will arrive at 1:00 p.m. to meet the kiddos.

The Salvation Army bell ringers will be stationed at the T intersection (Hwy. 59 and Hwy. 136) in Tarkio Saturday, December 2, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Make a donation to help those in need this holiday season.
