This Driskell family float was decked out beautifully with a Christmas cottage, Christmas trees, candy canes, and lights, and included Santa and his trusty reindeer, as well as a few helpers throwing out toys.

Sally and Dan Vietze were named this year’s Mr. and Mrs. Christmas. The two rode in the Tarkio Christmas Light Parade.

The Gingerbread Man and his Gingerbread Van placed first in the family category of the Tarkio Christmas Light Parade.

It was a beautiful night for the third annual Tarkio Christmas Parade Saturday, December 2, 2023. The temperature was a balmy 35 degrees Fahrenheit, but there was no wind. Main Street was packed with paradegoers eager to see the entries for this year’s event.

As always, Santa and his helpers made an appearance, along with Mrs. Claus, The Grinch, Buddy the Elf, and The Gingerbread Man. This year’s Mr. and Mrs. Christmas were Dan and Sally Vietze of Tarkio. Both grew up here and have recently returned to the community and have already dedicated a lot of time and energy into Tarkio’s events. The Vietzes support the local youth, volunteer at community happenings, and Dan provides tech support to the Tarkio Parks & Recreation Department, as well entertains his Facebook followers with weather reports. These two help make this town a better place and we are all glad that they are here.

Awards were presented to the following parade entries:

Family Category – 1st, Vana (Gingerbread Van); 2nd – Candy Land Home Sweet Home; and 3rd – Hurst Farm.

Group Category – 1st, Stealing Home; and 2nd – The Salvation Army.

Business Category – 1st, Paigstries; 2nd – Wiley Electric; and 3rd – Hy-Vee.
