Valentine’s Day is a day of love – showing love and being shown love. It is a time where we buy gifts for one another. We love flowers and chocolates, things that are pleasing to the senses, our eyes, taste and smell. We love, love; we love with our senses and we love with our gifts. We were designed to love, we were created to love and be loved by the Father. He gives us good gifts and provides all of our needs.
John 3:16 tells us that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Ephesians 3:14-21 says: “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
My prayer this Valentine’s Day season is even if don’t feel loved, if you don’t feel showered or spoiled but instead feel unseen in a world that loves to love, I pray that you feel seen by the Father, the Father who loves you enough that His Son came to earth to stand in your place and reconcile us back to the Father. I pray that you feel the Love of Christ that never fails us or forsakes us. That is good for our senses. That He dwells within us and that we can be filled to overflowing. His love that poured out for us on the Cross. He sees you and loves you and desires to fill you to overflowing.
The Good News is that we get to feel this way all year long, not just one day. The flowers fade and the chocolates go bad, but the love of Christ endures forever. I hope that you find hope in His Word and life in Him, that you will bow Your knees to the one who gives life and love abundantly. That you will rest in Him and be filled by Him.
