The Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary Unit 199 held a meeting February 12, 2024, with seven members attending. Chaplain Judy gave an opening prayer about love. All members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and then the Preamble. Roll call was answered with members giving their hours and money spent helping veterans for the months of December and January.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read. The financial report was given by Treasurer Sheridan and approved.

Membership was discussed. There are still members who need to return their dues to Barb Hines. It was discussed that if dues are not paid their membership will be dropped. Several attempts have been made to collect those dues.

The 4th District meeting will be held March 2, 2024, in Parnell at their Legion Hall. Anyone wanting to go should contact Linda Kaye or Sheridan by February 23.

Linda Kaye gave a report on the Christmas Gift Shop at the Veterans Home in Cameron on December 13, 2023. Four members participated and wrapped many, many gifts for the veterans and their caregivers. Everyone had a good time.

The final report from the turkey dinner was given by Sheridan. We had another successful event and served 231 meals.

The rummage sale will be April 12-13. KC will set up the building and ask for a dumpster to use. Donations will be accepted April 1-10 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. No donations will be taken in April 11 so that they can complete unpacking and organizing.

A celebration of life for Pearl and Tom Burns will be held March 2, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Legion building.

The date for County Government Day, to be held this spring, has not been set. Sheridan will follow up.

Several high school girls want to participate in Girls State this summer. The auxiliary will try to get some sponsors so that all the girls can go.

Chaplain Judy gave a closing prayer. Linda Kaye declared the meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be March 11, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in the Legion Building.
