The bleacher behind home plate and the two side bleachers are being replaced with new aluminum bleachers.

Pictured is a knee wall that will run between both of the dugouts. This will act as the back stop. Also pictured are three of the four poles that will have netting attached. This will make the viewing for the spectators much better.

It’s almost time for some baseball and softball, and if you have been down through the Rock Port City Park lately, you might have seen some exciting things happening at the south field. The work on the new backstop, dugout renovation, fencing and bleacher project is moving right along and will soon be complete in time for the season to begin. There is also a new scoreboard onsite and ready to be installed at the north field before softball games begin.
Over the past year, Rock Port Youth Athletics Association (RPYAA) has been aggressively pursuing non-profit grant funding and other donations to make this phase of upgrades possible. Matching grant opportunities from the Masonic Lodge/Masonic Home of Missouri along with the Royals Charities were a large part of the funding, in addition to other local/anonymous donations and support from the Rock Port R-II School District, Atchison County Development Corporation grant program, Cash Herron Memorial, Viterra, Cardinals Care, and the Stan Stubblefield Memorial.
None of the matching grant opportunities would have been possible without the local support of the RPYAA Outfield Fence Banner Sponsorship program, which is a catalyst in being able to pursue larger non-profit funding. These sponsors from 2023 included Citizens Bank & Trust, Burke & Sons Lumber, Lola’s Paw Spa, Griffin Farms, NorthwestCell, Hometown Comfort, Meyerkorth Aviation, Viterra, SJ Construction, Ottmann Electric, Rock Port Telephone, Northwest Missouri Sportsman’s Club, Rock Port Oil & Tire, Fertilizer Service Company, Oswald Crow Agency, Stoner Drug, Mo Valley Ag, Midwest Minisplit Co., Stolt’s Fitness, Golden Triangle, Minter Funeral Chapels, Lone Pine Bird Farm, Watson Fireworks, Jump Start Nutrition, Livengood & Associates, and In Memory of Cash Herron. Local contractor Hale Construction Services, LLC, is handling the bulk of the construction of this project.
RPYAA is excited about these improvements and the community support behind them and they are looking forward to continued projects for improvement at both fields later this year and beyond. They appreciate everyone who has made these improvements possible and who continues to support improvement in Rock Port.
