The Rock Port Park Board met Monday, March 11, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Jennifer Geib, Sheena Roup, Andrea Cook, Amber Graham, Jill Lager, Tawni Ellis, Jax Lutz, and Devon Sons. Alderwoman Rachel Schoonover and Mayor Amy Thomas were also present.
The meeting agenda was amended to re-approve the February financials.
Board members approved the minutes of the February 27, 2024, meeting, the amended January financials, and the February financials.
The additional $2.50 for the EMRLSC cards was approved.
Pool Update
Jennifer reported that the current balance of the Pool Repair Fund is $113,717.28 without the 2024 park contribution.
The pool is on ACCO’s list and Stan has added Rock Port to the service schedule. Jennifer is going to contact Stan to see the cost for each step. The only way that the park board can save money this spring is to drain, clean and fill the pool themselves.
Rachel Jenkins attended StarGuard Elite training and has received her certification as a level II trainer.
Three applications have been received to date. Board members voted to hire Jacoby Driskell and Jayme McEnaney as second year guards for the 2024 pool season. The board is still accepting applications for all positions for the 2024 pool season.
Park Updates
Todd King is willing to come and remove scrap as well as the drum.
There are two additional sets of bleachers that will need a new spot. They will be moved by the volleyball courts for additional seating.
Financial procedures have been finalized and will be shared with the council.
The work day has been tabled.
Jax will call to find fertilizer for the park.
Board members voted to hire Northwest Missouri Industries, Inc. to mow and dump trash at the city park for the 2024 season.
The park board will be presenting additional terms to the agreement at the upcoming school board meeting.
Committee Reports
Sheena is working on grants and has found some that the committee will look into.
The park board met with Carruthers Construction.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is April 10, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Rock Port City Hall.
