Rylee Jenkins had a big day, but especially in the discus as she threw it 46.39 meters or 152’ 2.5”. This throw not only took first place, but it puts her in the top 40 in the United States according to MileSplit.

Avery Meyerkorth qualified in four events for the state meet. She won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:25.05 and placed fourth in the long jump, leaping 4.87 meters. Along with the two individual events she qualified in both the 4×800 meter relay and the 4×400 meter relay.

East Atchison’s girls’ 4×400 meter relay placed first with a time 4:16.60. Team members are Lizzie Schlueter, Grace Caudill, Tommi Martin, and Grace Oswald.

East Atchison’s 4×800 meter relay team of Grace Oswald, Bailey Wennihan, Jayla Irvine, and Tommi Martin cruised to a first place finish with a time of 10:26.20.

Lizzie Schlueter placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.41. Lizzie has qualified in four events for the state meet this weekend.

Tommi Martin will compete in four events at state with two relays, javelin, and she finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.40.

Dylan Drummond, who ran the second leg of EA’s 4×200 meter relay, hands off to Julia Foehrenbach. With lead off Grace Oswald and anchor Lizzie Schlueter, EA placed fourth to advance to state.

Collin Hedlund placed second in the discus with a throw of 41.18 meters. Collin also advanced to state in the shot put with a throw of 13.54 meters, placing third.

Malachi Skillen is the newcomer to track this year and finds himself qualifying to the state meet in two races. He placed fourth in both the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:50.80 and 3200 meter run with a time of 10:55.00.

Norah Watkins is also a four event qualifier. Norah placed second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:36.60, third in the 1600 with a time of 5:39.30, and was a member of the 4×400 meter relay and 4×800 meter relay.

Avery Meyerkorth, Rylee Jenkins, Norah Watkins, and Jacoby Driskell ran both the 4×800 and 4×400 meter relays placing second in the 4×8 with a time of 10:33.30 and third in the 4×4 with a time of 4:23.60.

Rock Port’s boys’ 4×100 meter relay placed fourth with a time of 45.57. Pictured is Corbyn Jakub handing off to Dylan Lair. Other team members are Camden McEnaney and Case Millsap. Dylan also placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.24 and will compete at state this weekend.

Landrey Kelly had a long day with a four hour delay to start the girls’ pole vault. Landrey placed fourth with a vault of 2.4 meters.
The MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 4 Track Meet was held Saturday, May 11, in Adrian, Missouri.
The Rock Port girls’ team came in first place with 91 points, and the East Atchison girls’ team was in second place with 60 points.
The Rock Port boys’ team placed seventh with 41 points, and the East Atchison boys’ team placed 15th with 17 points.
The top four places qualified to advance to the MSHSAA State Track Meet May 17 and 18 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Atchison County will be represented by 10 individuals and six relay teams in 20 events.
