The Fairfax Music Awards Banquet was held May 9, 2024.
Debra Wyatt presented the following awards to junior high musicians:
Three individuals participated in the Junior High Solo Ensemble Contest held at Northwest Missouri State University. Caroline Larson received a 1 rating for a piano solo. Her teacher is Suzanne Southard. The Mixed Brass Trio of Caroline Larson, Jaxson Smith, and Deyton Burke received a 2 rating.
Tyler Duering, Caroline Larson, and Jaxson Smith were recognized for being banner carriers for the Fairfax Marching Pride and received certificates of participation.
The following high school awards were presented:
All students received a certificate for the Exemplary rating at MSSBDA Band Contest, and a certificate and medal for their outstanding rating at the MSHSAA State Band Contest.
All students lettered for the following: 1st Year Letter – Lexi Brown (band and choir), Erin Eyman (band), Trent Frohn (band), Chase Gayler (band), Mason Kingery (band), Kenneth Kirkpatrick (band), Connor Miller (band), Anna Ohlensehlen (band), Johnny Pickard (band), Chloe Vernon (band); 2nd Year Letter – Austin Helfers (band), Joaquin Hill (band), Amelia Larson (band); and 3rd Year Letter – KayDee Duering (band), Kendall Kingery (band), Cowen O’Riley (band), Luke Swinehart (band), and Clayton Vernon (band).
Certifiates of participation were given to Trent Kingery, Fairfax Marching Pride Drum Major, 2023-2024, and Kendal Straub, Fairfax Marching Pride Color Guard, 2023- 2024.
Chloe Vernon was recognized as Outstanding Freshman – “Rookie of the Year.”
Clayton Vernon was named Most Improved Marching Bulldog, and Kendall Kingery was named Outstanding Bandsman.
The following musicians received District Awards: Lexi Brown, I, vocal solo; Kendall Kingery, II, baritone solo; Amelia Larson, II, flute solo; Cowen O’Riley, II, alto sax solo; Chloe Vernon, II, alto sax solo; Austin Helfers, Kendall Kingery, and Mason Kingery, II, mixed brass trio.
State awards went to the following: Lexi Brown, bronze rating at the MSHSAA State Solo/Ensemble Contest; Amelia Larson, Four State Honor Band; and Lexi Brown and Kendal Straub, State FFA Choir.
Amelia Larson was recognized with national award recognition for being in the National FFA Band.
