The 22nd Annual Tarkio Rotary Golf Tournament was played at the Tarkio Golf Course on Saturday, June 1, 2024, with 12 four-person teams participating. A total of 48 participants enjoyed the warm, sunny day, friendly com-petition, and free-will donation lunch provided by the Atchison County Hy-Vee and the Tarkio Rotary Club.
The four-person scramble format tournament results are as follow:
Championship Flight – 1st place, Ed Salmond II Team, 59; 2nd place, Tarkio R-1 Team, 62; 3rd place, Tarkio Tech Team, 62; and 4th place, Colfax Farmers Mutual Team, 63
“A” Flight – 1st place, Tarkio Rotary Team, 64; 2nd place, Farmers State Bank Team, 64: 3rd place, Brett Reeves Team, 64; and 4th place, Ed Salmond I Team, 65
“B” Flight – 1st place, New York Life Team, 66; 2nd place, Devon Perry Team, 69; 3rd place, Tarkio Rehab Team, 80; and 4th Place, Atchison County Hy-Vee Team, 83
Ties were broken by comparing scores on randomly selected holes on the scorecards. Engraved trophies were awarded to the top two teams in each flight. Logo golf balls, provided by Tarkio Technology Institute and logo golf towels, sponsored by Morning Sun Seed/Laur Farms, were awarded to all participating players.
Gifts, provided by the Tarkio Rotary Club, were awarded to the winners of the hole prizes following the announcement of the tournament results. Hole prizes and their winners included Kyra Mills and Ed Salmond, longest drives on holes 2 and 3; Josh Lundy and Vince Salmond, closest to the pin on holes 4 and 8; and Madison Perry and Adam Laur, longest putts on holes 1 and 2. Other prizes, donated by local businesses were won by various participants in a random drawing. Unfortunately, no one won the $10,000 hole-in-one contest on hole #8 sponsored by Colfax Farmers Mutual Insurance. The “games-within-the-game” normally sponsored by Dixon Golf were cancelled due to the illness of the Dixon Golf representative. They plan to join us again next year.
