With the closing of the Tarkio Avalanche in February of this year, Lori and Mark Staten bought the inventory and opened up their own clothing and sign shop. With the business name of Hoot & Holler, Lori is working on the second floor of the Curnutt Center on the Tarkio Tech campus selling shirts and hats, letter jackets and patches, signs and banners, vinyl and magnetic signs for vehicles, and embroidery/screen printing/vinyl/transfers for clothing apparel.

Lori said, “After Mark and I retired from teaching, we wanted to keep active. The community is important to us and we did not want to see this business leave our county and area. The need for the services is great, which makes being an entrepreneur so enjoyable.” Lori has stayed busy from day one providing clothing and signs for local businesses, residents, schools, and for community events such as the Tarkio Rodeo. Right now, Lori and her helpers are working on getting everything set up and organized while still creating quality items in a timely manner. Eventually, Lori is hoping to be able to participate in pop-up events with merchandise booths and hold specials and sales.

Hoot & Holler is hosting an open house and sale on Friday, June 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation is holding a ribbon cutting in conjunction with the open house. The public is invited to attend.
