Four Rock Port students competed in the AAU Region 16 Regional Qualifier track meet June 19-22, 2024, at Bentonville West High School in Centerton, Arkansas. Region 16 covers Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and western Missouri. All four will advance to the 2024 AAU Junior Olympic Games which will be held July 27 – August 3 in North Carolina.

Ella Meyerkorth is the regional champion of the girls’ heptathlon (15-16 years) which consists of seven events. Her results are: 100 meter hurdles, 16.58; high jump, 1.60m (a new personal record); shot put, 9.05m (a new personal record); 200 meter dash, 27.51; long jump, 4.33m; javelin, 36.56m; and 800 meter run, 2:33.51, for a total score of 4,155.

Raylynn Jenkins won the girls’ javelin throw (14 years) with a throw of 21.68m and placed fifth in the girls’ discus with a throw of 22.62m. She also placed 11th in the 200 meter hurdles with a time of 41.40.

Rylee Jenkins placed first in the women’s discus (17-18 years) with a throw of 44.18m. She also placed second in the javelin with a throw of 40.80m, and fourth in the shot put with a distance of 10.11m.

Malachi Skillen won the men’s 3000 meter run (17-18 years) with a time of 10:45.69. He also competed in the 1500 meter run and placed fifth with a time of 4:54.11.
