The East Atchison junior high and high school cross country teams traveled to Tecumseh, Nebraska, to compete Friday, September 6, 2024. The EA runners had a fantastic day and many brought medals home with them.
The junior high Lady Wolves placed first as a team and had three runners finish in the top 10 and six in the top 20 in the 2500 meter race (there were 47 competitors). Individual results include: 1st – Mikayla Windham, 10:19; 5th – Sophie Hegstrom, 11:24; 9th – Lyla Walker, 11:46; 12th – Gracie Walker, 12:09; 17th – Kennedi Griffin, 12:34; 18th – Graceyn Reeves, 12:35; 26th – Vivianne Hale, 13:31; and 35th – Ava Brown, 14:43. The East Atchison junior high boys’ team also had a competitor in the 2500 meter run: 43rd – Owen Vette, 13:22.
The East Atchison varsity Lady Wolves also had a great showing in the 5K (there were 42 runners total), with one runner finishing in the top 10 and three runners finishing in the top 20. The team placed 5th overall. Individual results include: 6th – Jayla Irvine, 23:28; 16th – Abbie Harms, 25:46; 18th – Bella Bywater, 25:49; 26th – Danika Agnew, 26:59; 37th – Macy Stepp, 31:41; and 40th – Bresayda Jimenez, 33:30.
The East Atchison varsity boys also finished well, competing in the 5k race (there were 61 runners total) and finishing in 6th place overall. Individual results follow: 18th – Quin Staten, 19:41; 22nd – Cole Anderson, 20:11; 43rd – Isaac Vette, 24:05; 53rd – Bryon Ohensehlen, 25:49; 56th – Mason Kingery, 28:17; and 58th – Connor Morton, 29:28. In the JV Boys’ 5K race, three Wolves took part: 21st – Ben Rolf, 28:03; 22nd – Luke Swinehart, 28:14; and 28th – Kendall Kingery, 34:00.
